Graph Paper - THEN & NOW

Think about it...in days gone by, graph paper had to be printed, packaged, shipped, and sold (as pads or sheets).  Think of the cost of getting that 1/4 inch or metric grid delivered to you, for you to use, for your next draft or assignment.  The common choices were usually, quarter, eighth, tenth and metric.  1 inch graph paper templates don't really exist, because 1/4, 1/8, and 1/10 inch ARE all one inch (already).  Of course, the common subdivisions are usually quarter (quad), eighth and tenth of an inch.

Now-a-days...(through the miracle of the Internet), graphic files can be transmitted directly to the customer using "Portable Document Format" files (PDFs).  The saving of time and energy is considerable.  Energy to manufacture, energy to ship to wholesaler, energy to ship to retailer, energy to transport customer to retail outlet and back again.  Phenomenal!

It is on the customer's side that the realization of the product takes place.  An 8 1/2  x 11 inch sheet of graph paper can be printed on the customer's own computer printer, in today's world.  Hey, 'it's almost like a replicator'... printing only one sheet at a time is key to saving energy and resources.    Replicate only what you need!!    Don't buy one thousand sheets; buy a file that can print one thousand sheets!!

Gone are the days of going to the store and finding that graph paper is sold out!  Also gone is having a dozen sheets, or so, left over from the package that may never be used!

Welcome to the 'print on demand' generation.  Recycle where you can ... Print on demand when you can.  Live smarter ...  When you only need a few good sheets, print ONLY what you need.
